Project Fimbul is an informational website. Here you can read what you can and cannot expect from us, how the site makes money, and what happens to your data.
All information on this website is general and for information only. It is not personal, medical, legal or financial advice.
We do our best to keep everything accurate and up to date, but we cannot guarantee that the information is complete, accurate or up to date. Figures, rates and counters are partly estimates and may differ from reality.
The crisis clock and the probabilities per category are statistical estimates based on the past. They do not predict the future.
What you do with the information is your own decision and at your own risk. To the extent permitted by law, Project Fimbul is not liable for damage arising from the use of this website.
In an emergency, always follow the instructions of the authorities and emergency services in your country, and call 112.
We link to other parties' websites, such as governments, sources and shops. We are not responsible for the content, products, prices or terms of those websites. If you buy something from a shop, that is an agreement between you and that shop.
This website was built in collaboration with AI: texts, translations and code are made with the help of AI. A human checks them and is responsible for the content (editor: J W Van Ravesteijn). Mistakes are still possible. Spotted one? Email us and we will fix it.
Project Fimbul earns nothing from what you buy. There are no affiliate links, no ads and no paid recommendations. The website runs on voluntary donations.
A donation is voluntary and does not entitle you to anything in return. Project Fimbul is not a charity; a donation is not tax-deductible.
The controller of your data is J W Van Ravesteijn (enskild firma) in Sweden. Contact details are at the bottom of this page.
We do not place tracking cookies and do not use analytics or advertising services.
In your browser (localStorage) we only store your language choice, what you tick off in the basics list and the period you chose in the supplies calculator. This only happens when you choose something yourself, and it stays on your own device. You can erase it by deleting the site data in your browser.
The website is hosted by Infomaniak Network SA in Switzerland. According to the European Commission, Switzerland protects personal data at an adequate level. Infomaniak keeps technical log files, such as IP address, time and requested page, to keep the site secure and working. These log files are kept for a limited time and then deleted automatically. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure, working website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
Our own server fetches exchange rates and debt figures from Free Currency API and the US Department of the Treasury (fiscaldata.treasury.gov). Your browser does not contact these services, so they do not see your IP address.
Fonts and all other parts of the site come from our own server.
If you donate via Ko-fi, Ko-fi and the payment service you choose (Stripe or PayPal) process your data, each under its own privacy policy. We receive your name or nickname, your email address, the amount and any message. We keep the details needed for our accounts (name, amount, date) for as long as Swedish accounting law (bokföringslagen) requires: until the end of the seventh year after the year of the donation (GDPR Art. 6(1)(c)). For a bitcoin donation we only see what is public on the blockchain.
If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply to you. We keep your email for as long as needed to deal with your question, and for no more than 2 years. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering your question (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
You have the right to access your data, have it corrected or deleted, restrict processing, object, and take your data with you. Email us to do so; we reply within one month. If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can file a complaint with Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY) in Sweden or with the supervisory authority in your own country.
We do not use your data for automated decisions or profiling, and we never sell it.
